CASE STUDY
THE CONDUIT
β
COVENT GARDEN / LONDON
BRIEF
This private club moved to a new 6-floor space in Covent Garden with a different intention for each floor, including a restaurant, hot-desking offices, adjustable meeting spaces, bar and cafe. The Glasshouse was tasked with filling the eclectic, modern interior with the plants, providing elements of screening and separation, softening and sculpture. The display required flexibility, so that plants could be moved easily as needed, and resilience, with high traffic and varying environmental factors.
DELIVERY
As the site was being remodeled, The Glasshouse team used architectural plans and a site visit to integrate the design vision with space, light and environmental considerations. Influenced by the ethnic inspired
textiles and art collection, the team integrated natural textures and colours in the wide selection of containers, ensuring the plant design felt informal and inviting.
Some baskets and lighter materials were used to ensure ease of movement.
Plants with high oxygenation were included to help with air quality and plants resistant to disease and pests were given preference. A wide variety of plant specimens were chosen to ensure a wealth of textures, shades of green, heights and shapes. The Conduit features more than 200 plants across 6 floors. The Glasshouse team has maintained the indoor plants consistently and successfully since installation, managing and maintaining the large outdoor roof garden as well.
