16th May
Day 3 - Jess - Web & Business
My first day ever at Chelsea!!! 3 years ago I had a drug addiction and ended up in prison, I didn’t think I’d make it past my 30th birthday. I can’t believe that I get to do things like this now I am released, bring joy to thousands of people. It’s been so humbling having people come up to our exhibit and see what we’ve recreated, mimicking our very first Glasshouse in HMP East Sutton Park.
We met our lovely neighbours @botanicyork @theplantwarehouse @plantsbythere @thelittlebotanical @in.the.garden @growtropicals - everyone helps each-other out as best as they can, each studio is so different, unique and wonderful!
The weather today wasn’t as sunny but our plants like it like that. We are on schedule for the show and judging day!!! So much to take in there.
Final touches to the outside area were completed and it looks fab! Especially with our HMP props- real pair of worn prison boots and the actual planters from East Sutton Park.
@malverngardenbuildings and @thisisellodave helpful as ever, supporting us with our benches to ensure they can take the weight of our many MANY plants and handmade clay pots.
We also had the @mojgovuk visit to film our Chelsea journey for their social post Chelsea. It’s all coming together now, very excited to see our long time supporter @juliabradbury next week!’ We made a little ‘friends-inspired’ reel today, check it out on our Instagram page @theglasshousebotanics
